I know it's two posts in one day, but our family that's far away wanted to see some pictures of the celebration.
Checking out the presents.
Addie loved helping him figure it out.
He's so excited to be one!!!
Davis and his big sister.
We kept it simple with cupcakes this year - and gave Davis one with no frosting. He still thought it was pretty good! He started out with a pretty dainty bite...
But eventually got into it!

Davis is ONE!
So today is Davis' first birthday. I was rocking him before bed last night and he had passed out in my arms. I have a pretty firm rule that I lay him in his crib drowsy but still awake - but I just couldn't help it. I'm sure this is normal to feel with your youngest, but he is just growing up WAY TOO FAST. STOP! We gave him a fork to eat with last night and he totally nailed it like, on his first try. (This kid takes his mealtimes VERY seriously.)
Having Davis was one of the best days of my life - so was the day I had Addie, but her labor was so long and horrible that the excitement waned and exhaustion set in around hour 20. My favorite memories of my labor with Addie are when it was over and we finally got to meet her.
With Davis, things went so fast and smooth, it really gave us time to enjoy the whole experience! (Although I will admit, driving home to get my bags and say goodbye to Addie after my midwife told me to get to the hospital because I was dilated to a 5 almost a 6 was probably not the best choice...it does make us laugh looking back.)
Here I am (post epidural, obviously!) getting ready to deliver Davis. We were so excited to find out if the baby was a boy or a girl!
It was so cool when Jeremy delivered Davis (with a little guiding from my midwife) and having Jeremy be the one who told us it was a BOY! (We are SOOO doing it that from now on....totally worth it.)
One of the best things about this past year was watching Addie and Davis' relationship grow. It has been quite a year and I love to see them interacting and playing together.
(Addie meeting Davis in the hospital. Oh my gosh, she was so little!)
Playing together about a month ago at the Children's Museum. Watching them grow up together has been a total blessing.
Davis a few days old.
Davis a few days ago!
We feel so blessed to have these guys in our life! As sad as it is that time seems to be flying, it's also so fun to watch their personalities and independence grow.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, D!

Happy Spring
We have been having so much fun with Jeremy on Spring Break - the week has, of course, gone by MUCH too fast. But just a few more weeks and then he will be DONE with his first year of school. I never would have thought I would say this but the year has gone by so very fast!
Anyway......here's some fun photos of what we've been up to this week:
Addie absolutely adored her cousin Alex. He is fourteen months older than her - they are as far apart age-wise as Davis and Addison. It's always fun to see them together, I feel like it gives me a glimpse into the near future!
We went to the zoo this week! We had a lot of fun - the weather this week has been beautiful and we have been outside almost every morning and afternoon.
The Omaha Zoo has the funnest walk-through aquarium and the kids loved it.
Davis loved the zoo - can you believe his birthday is this week???? He is just too much fun.
We had a lot of picnic lunches and dinners this week:

What I'm Doing
Sorry I haven't posted, but I'm having fun this week with these people:
Cousin Emma and Davis
Cousin Alex and Aunt Emily
Alex and Addie (Addie's hair needs some help at this time of night!!)
Emily, Alex and Emma came out to visit her sister who just moved to Omaha (yeah!) so we get to visit with them and Addie is in HEAVEN.
Oh, I also get to spend the week with THIS guy:
(Most recent picture of us two on the camera - pretty sad. I will have to take some this week!)
Jeremy is on SPRING BREAK!
I'm already thinking the week is going by too quickly and it hasn't even really begun. And the weather is supposed to awesome - high of 74 degrees tomorrow!
I hope everybody has a great week!

Spring Fever
Jeremy and I have gotten into American Idol this year - totally on accident. I usually watch the auditions and then that's it. But we saw ONE audition that we just thought was so funny and we loved. Anyway, here's a shout-out to Anoop. We weren't home last night so Kater was nice enough to text me the play by play of him making it to the top thirteen.
It was 70 degrees and sunny here yesterday. It could not have been more perfect. We played at the park twice (before AND after naps) and went for a nice, long walk. I think it's safe to say we are suffering a case of Spring Fever.
I took this photo with my cell phone at the park yesterday.
Notice how Davis' pants are rolled (they are too long - 18 months size. But I refuse to buy him 12 month stuff because I know he will just grow out of them so fast) and Addie's pants are high waters. She is definitely having a growth spurt - she eats as much as ME at every meal lately (even out-eats me at breakfast sometimes) and all of her 2T pants and shirts are getting too short. Her nice winter shoes are getting too tight. (Sometimes she says "ouch" when I put them on! I'm like come on, give me ONE more month of use shoes!!!) I'm trying to hold out until April then I can just go and buy some spring clothes that will actually fit her.
So, for future reference, don't judge the mom at the park with the kids in clothes that don't fit. And dirty faces. And snotty noses. It's probably me.
