Summer Update

I haven't taken my camera with me on any of our adventures lately, so most of these pictures are from my cell phone. I will try to do better, grandparents.

Let's see....what have we been up to? Well....a few weeks ago, we got to go see "Wicked" which was showing the month of May in Omaha. We went with a couple from our neighborhood/church. Jeremy and Justin went down to the theater two hours before showtime to enter the Wicked lottery. Basically, they give away ten pairs of orchestra tickets for CHEAP right before the show. But they do it as raffle/lottery because SO MANY PEOPLE come to try and get tickets.

I had already secured a babysitter (thanks again, Stephanie!) and was getting ready to leave when Jeremy called and said there were HUNDREDS of people there to try and win tickets. So I started thinking of alternate things (I think Jeremy was hoping for Wolverine) to do that night and Jeremy called and said that our friend's name was picked! Very last! Wow! So our friends (who already had tickets) and us got to see the show. It was so fun and we had a blast.

Outside the theater before the show.

Inside the theater after the show. (We couldn't use the flash on our camera because it kept reflecting off the glass in front of the poster.)

We've been having a lot of fun in the warm weather. Taking walks, going to the park and the zoo, playing with friends, library storytime, and the slip 'n slide in the backyard.

Addie pushing her friend on the swing. She's been saying the funniest things lately. She's a great tool for me for self-improvement. Lately when Davis cries, she says "For Heaven's Sake!" which apparently I say when Davis is being grumpy. I need to work on my patience!

She also has a mind of her own and I have been picking my battles carefully. When we went to Target to get a birthday present for a friend of hers, she found this little gem in the dollar bin and I thought we could decorate it for her friend as part of her present. Addie REFUSED to take it off and wore it around the store for the remainder of our trip.

She even flipped around for a different effect. Very stylish.

This little stinker has been waking up earlier and earlier in the mornings....SO FUN! He is starting to imitate sounds (finally!) and say simple words like "dada" "mama" "duck" "stop" "addie" and "thank you". (addie and thank you sound like "adda" and "that you" but it's still progress!)

Finally, Jeremy has finished his primary care block and luckily was able to find a temporary job with FedEx here that will last the rest of the summer. He ended his block on Friday and started Tuesday. So not as long of a break as I was hoping for, but this job is a total blessing and we will take it!

He loved his block and seemed to really hit it off with the doctor he was working with. The doc was on OB call this weekend and said if Jeremy wanted to come if he got called in for a delivery he would call him. So, on Sunday, in the middle of Sunday School, Jeremy got a call from the doctor saying to come to the hospital and scrub in for a c-section.

Being the planners that we are, we didn't drive in two cars, so we loaded up the kids and I got dumped at home with two hungry, tired kids and he was off! The day was *crazy* because offered to make dinner for a sweet family in our ward that just had a new baby that night so things got crazy. I finished the day off solo (which isn't new) but I DID IT. I was able to get everything cooked AND cleaned and put away. (miracle!)

It was a little taste of what life will be like and just that glimpse gave me even MORE respect for the resident's families in our ward and everywhere. (In fact, the family I brought dinner to is a radiology resident and his wife. She had her fourth baby on Wednesday, her husband was back to the hospital on Friday!!! Oh my....) I will say it does have me hoping for a residency a BIT closer to family.....

  4. You got to go to wicked? Lucky! Jeff was for some reason really opposed to it (maybe it's the whole spending money thing plus the fact that it's a musical). Your kids are adorable. Do you rent a house? I'm so glad Jeremy was able to find a job...I'm thinking that won't be a possibility this summer.

  5. Yeah for a summer job. That job sounded so perfect, I glad that he got it. We are in North Platte this week, but when we get back you guys need to go on a date. That is awesome that Jeremy got to see a c-section. Jeff will be so jealous.
