We'll change back to 9:00 am church at the first of next year... is it December yet??
She wouldn't even look at me, let alone smile! She was asleep in bed at 6:30 tonight....here's hoping she's not awake at 5:00 am ready to go!

After a long and crazy couple of weeks, we actually had some free time this afternoon. Jeremy and I decided to take the kids for ice cream, using up the remaining balance of one of our Christmas gift cards (thanks again, Heidi!). It was a lot of fun! I tried to convince Addie to get sprinkles on her "white" ice cream (her words) but no amount of persuasion would work. Weird!! What 3-year-old girl turns down sprinkles??!?

I caught my kids upstairs reading today. They were just playing in Addie’s room, each quietly looking at their own books. They love “reading” – looking at books and pictures. Addie loves her magazine she gets in the mail every month – it’s the Highlights High Five magazine for toddlers. She asks to read it every day before nap and bedtime and will memorize every story. After she’s had it for a couple of weeks, she can usually “read” the magazine from memory to herself. It’s so sweet.
Davis is starting to memorize books as well, which makes me happy to finally see him to start progressing verbally. His favorite book to read lately “The Foot Book” by Dr. Seuss.
(Sorry the pictures are so dark – I still had Addie’s blackout blanket over her window!)

Wednesday, January 20
Addie caught a little stomach bug on Tuesday and Tuesday night was up sick. So we had a very low-key day today - lots of movies, puzzles and laying on the couch reading our magazines.
After I had the kids settled downstairs, I went into her room to change her sheets and clean up (I am the only mom who CLOROX WIPES EVERYTHING when their kids has a stomach bug?) and had to take a picture to remember the sweet scene I saw this morning when I went to wake Jeremy for class.
He wanted to stay next to her in case she got sick again in the night, so he made a little bed of quilts on the floor. When I went in this morning, Addie was sleeping on his chest on the floor. It was the sweetest thing. I never could sleep with her on my chest, but they were both sound asleep.
(P.S. Yes, in the picture that is a bowl in case she got sick again and couldn't make it to the bathroom....totally full circle moment as mom because I definitely remember those gross bowls as a kid. Luckily it wasn't needed and STAYED CLEAN!)
Hopefully we are through the worst of it and will be better in time for the weekend!

Our ward at church is experiencing a baby boom of sorts (this does NOT include me!). It's starting now and is peaking this spring-early summer! I volunteered to bring some dinners to the new moms and decided to just double the batches so I could stock my freezer. Nothing too fancy - making some yummy soup and some lasagna - easy to freeze and yummy when it's FREEZING outside!
So I've been in the kitchen all day ! Worth it though, to serve my dear friends and stock my own freezer at the same time!

Addie was the "Star of the Week" at preschool last week on her birthday. She was cute giving her little answers to the class. (P.S. Why she said her favorite color was GREEN is beyond me. She is my pink, pink, pink girl - I think, in part, due to her older cousin Camilla. Anyway, I think she picked green because it was the color crayon closest to her when we were working on her sheet!)

DAVIS! STOP GROWING UP!!!!!!! (Taken as we were rushing out the door to church today….gotta love 1pm church!!!)
Saturday, January 16
I’ve been inspired by sister-in-law Heidi’s idea to post something every day. I thought it would be fun to take one picture every day (who knows how long this will last!) to sort of represent what that day in our life was like. Then at the end of the year we will have a fun little snapshot of our daily life in 2010! Like I said, we’ll see how long it lasts.
So, here’s basically what can sum up January for us:
This was taken from my front porch – that is a snow drift that goes clear across my front yard (which normally slopes very sharply downward!)
We can’t wait for summer or spring or just to see the yard again!
Happy Birthday, Addison!
It’s so crazy to think she’s 3!
Here I am on the way to the hospital:
Here she is just one day old:
And one year old:
Last year, turning two:
And this year!
We didn’t do very much – her birthday fell in the middle of the week. We brought cupcakes to her preschool class, had cake and ice cream and opened up presents. She loved saying she was three all day long.
Addie is a total joy to have around. She’s got a heart of gold, loves her friends and playing, loves dancing and skirts and anything girly, loves singing and playing with her best friend of all, DAVIS!
Christmas (Finally)
We had a great trip home to see our families over Christmas! I was crazy and flew home with both kids by myself – our flight departed Omaha at 6:45 am, which means we had to be up and gone by 5:15ish AM. It made for a long morning, but my kids were total champs I have to say.
(I took this picture with my phone.)
While we were home, we were able to visit with family, visit with our buddy Addy Young, attempt a sledding trip (the kids weren’t fans!) and of course, OPEN all of our Christmas presents!
Davis’ cousin Zachary hand-picked a few of his own collection of dinosaurs to share with Davis for Christmas this year. We sure missed you, Zach, but Davis loves his dinosaurs!!!!!!!!!!
Like I said, we didn’t really like the sledding this year…
We spent a lot of time in the lodge at the base of the hill with grandma instead!
